Bear lives in Roseville, Ca.

Hi Kathleen, last time you saw pictures of Rio he was only 10 weeks old. So here are some recent pictures of him. He is 7 month old right now. A few weeks ago we took him to the snow he he had the best time! His favorite thing was to catch snowballs. We also did a photo shoot with him which was a lot of fun! His favorite toy is his lion which he got for Christmas, and his favorite activity to do is go swimming. There hasn't been one day where he hasn't been in the pool playing with his ball. He is such a handsome pup! I think he looks a lot like his dad Casper! Hope you are doing well and had a great holiday season! Happy New Year!

Hi Kathleen I wanted to send pictures and video of Rooney. She and Scout are joined at the hip, and Scout is helping show her “the ropes.” She’s a gem — very intelligent, good looking, and the life of the party (extremely social).

We are so happy, thanks again!

Kathleen's Lacey's human mommy. Lacey continues to bring us such love and laughter. The best part of her coming to us is evening walks. The kids never want to come, so they have turned into a very special time for Eric and I. Never thought a puppy could bring us together in such a special way. Thank you! Kristin Birdwell

 Hi Kathleen,

As you can see we got a little snow today.

First flakes of the season and Penny's first. She kept snapping at them. She is also starting to get her feathers and fuller longer hair. At the moment we are waiting for her to go into heat. Otherwise she is typical golden although my males were a little less crazy. She just loves to do things outside she should not be doing. Like going and pulling stuff out of the pond. Not that she goes in. Loves to eat everything she can find. Ugghhh Penny . Has also made quite the dent in our doggy toy collection. Gotta get the squeakers before she does. Cody loves her they play all day. She sleeps in the bed with us and Cody. Loves to hug you around your neck with her front paws and give kisses. We love her and she is turning into quite the beautiful girl although she would rather be dirty.

Hope all is well with you and your family.

Einstein~ Hey who turned off the lights!

Hi Kathleen,Just a few pics from this past weekend in Montauk. Her first time on the beach. She has also been in the pool twice with a little prodding. She is such a good girl. We love her. She has had all her shots so she is good to go out and mingle. We stayed with my brother in law at his house and she as you can see made herself right at home. Last week on Wednesday she weighed in at the vet at 38#. Starting to get her feathers on her really long tail and her front and hind legs. She is so spoiled but she deserves the best cuz she is our little princess. LOL Take care, Janet

  • Hi Kathleen Just wanted to let you know that 007’s Miss Money Penny is doing really well. She and Bear are getting along well. She pretty much defers to the old man, but he lets her chew his toys and sleep next to him. So I think he has accepted her…I’m impressed with Penny’s intelligence, temperament, and potty training. She has made it through each night without a peep and without a bowel movement or urination on the papers in the mud room. She has waited until we take her outside. She has a favorite spot in the back yard. Pretty amazing for 10 weeks. She is a chow hound and devours everything we give her-not one kibble left in the bowl or on the ground.Today was her vet check and of course she passed. She will go back for her second shot series next week with a fecal sample for worms, etc. She will have a another full physical check at 16 weeks when she gets her last shots and rabies. The vet remarked that she was the cutest puppy she’d seen in the office today. I guess there were quite a few in for their shots. Is there anything else we need to do to fulfill your puppy health contract? Thanks, Linda~ Granite Bay, Ca.

Temperment~The temperament of the Golden Retriever is a hallmark of the breed and is described in the standard as "kindly, friendly and confident." They are not "one man dogs" and are generally equally amiable with both strangers and those familiar to them. Their trusting, gentle disposition dog. Any form of unprovoked aggression or hostility towards either people, dogs or other animals, whether in the show ring or community, is completely unacceptable in a Golden Retriever and is not in keeping with the character of the breed and as such is considered a serious fault. Nor should a Golden Retriever be unduly timid or nervous. The typical Golden Retriever is calm, naturally intelligent and biddable, with an exceptional eagerness to please. Whether the object is a thrown stick, tennis ball, or flying disc, retrieving can keep a dog of this breed occupied and entertained for hours, particularly if water is also involved. Goldens might also pick up and "retrieve" any object that is near to them upon their masters' arrival, all of this lending to their retriever name.Golden Retrievers are also noted for their intelligence, and can learn up to roughly 240 commands, words and phrases. The Golden Retriever ranks 4th in being one the the brightest dogs ranked by obedience command trainability. These dogs are also renowned for their patience with children.By the time they reach maturity however, Goldens will have become active and fun-loving animals with the exceptionally patient demeanor befitting a dog bred to sit quietly for hours in a hunting blind. Adult Golden Retrievers love to work, and have a keen ability to focus on a given task. They will seemingly work until collapse, so care should be taken to avoid overworking them.Other characteristics related to their hunting heritage are a size suited for scrambling in and out of boats and an inordinate love for water. Golden Retrievers are exceptionally trainable—due to their intelligence, athleticism and desire to please their handlers—and generally excel in obedience trials. In fact, the first AKC Obedience Trial Champion was a Golden Retriever. They are also very competitive in agility and other performance events. Harsh training methods are unnecessary . Lotus
